Woman Destroys Boyfriend After He Criticizes Her Armpit Hair: 'The Silence'

October 2024 ยท 3 minute read

A man was made to regret criticizing his partner's armpit hair after she turned the tables to unleash a devastating takedown that left him speechless.

Worse still for him, the entire thing ended up being shared to social media, where people were quick to side with his acerbic other half.

Footage of the exchange first gained traction on TikTok, after being shared online by a user posting under the handle JassyBlanco. It's been viewed 5.2 million times.

The clip can be watched here.

The clip came from a live video featuring a pair of TikTok users identified only as Erica Kane and eerbodyhateschris1. Newsweek has contacted both for comment.

Attitudes around armpit hair have changed considerably in the past decade or more.

In 2017, a study conducted by market research firm Mintel found nearly one in four young women had stopped shaving their underarm hair.

According to the research, which was published in The Telegraph, in 2013 95 percent of women between the ages of 16 and 24 were still shaving their armpit hair. However, that number had dropped to 77 percent by 2016.

With stars like Miley Cyrus promoting a more liberal attitude to what was once viewed as the norm, that figure may have dropped even further since.

More significantly still, old arguments like the claim that shaving armpit hair stops bad body odor have long been debunked with a 2012 scientific study showing the differences were minimal at best.

Despite this, it was clear from the video posted to social media that Kane's partner was not pleased she was sporting visible hair under her arms.

Speaking directly to the camera, he proceeds to pretend to pluck hair from her arm, asking: "Can I borrow some hair and fix the rest of my beard, please?"

"Can I take this? Because it's a lot," he adds, with Kane seen smirking alongside him at this point. That soon changes though.

"To be honest, you really need to cut that s***," he tells her. "I would really appreciate it if you cut that s*** off, because what makes you think you can just walk around like that?"

Having remained silent during his tirade, Kane suddenly springs into life to hit back in devastating style.

"And what makes you think you can live off me when you 30?" she asks.

"You really need to sign a lease. You really need to buy a car that don't cut off after two minutes. You really need to get your money up and not your funny up. You really need to pay your phone bill." There is momentary silence, before her partner meekly replies: "Okay, but..."

"We'll see," she responds, turning away. "We are gonna be alright," he sheepishly says, having retreated from view off-camera.

The exchange was met with a delighted response online from users quick to praise Kane for shutting down her partner's criticism.

Aaryn.mj commented: "He got so quiet," while V1onee_ simply wrote: "The silence"

R.hxaa agreed: "She be slaying him" with Khiana LaChon sarcastically responding: "Now his feelings hurt."

Osnapitzsar said: "Her comebacks be soooo quick" while Jhonnie Mae Matthews wrote: "Whewww that silence after the go off speaks so loud."
