Restoring skin firmness and elasticity, Ameela formally known as Nucleadyn Eyes is the new wrinkle treatment on the block, and it's got people talking.

New to the UK, Ameela is a fast-acting treatment used to target fine lines and wrinkles, among a myriad of other signs of ageing on key areas like the neck, face and décolletage.

What is Ameela Eyes?

'Ameela, previously branded as Nucleadyn, is an innovative gel-based injectable treatment derived from polymerized Polynucleotides, a very powerful organic molecule that combats ageing signs, uneven skin tone and dehydration,' explains Dr Nina Bal.

'I really like the treatment for the eye area as it does not augment the tissue or attract water like HA dermal fillers – it is most a brightening treatment that assists with darkness and superficial skin texture.'

According to Dr. Nina Bal, Ameela can effectively address signs of ageing, uneven skin tone, and dehydration, with a particular emphasis on its efficacy when applied under the eyes

Is Ameela a filler?

'No - Ameela is a highly effective bio-stimulating gel targeted at rejuvenating and renewing skin cells and tissues,' she says.

'It does not restore volume or augment the tissues like dermal fillers and is injected more superficially.'

How does it differ from Profhilo?

'Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid-based treatment where Ameela is made from animal-based polynucleotides (derived from the sperm cells of salmon),' explains Dr Nina Bal.

'Polynucleotides are one of the effective treatments used in regenerative medicine. It contains substances that trigger the body to repair itself rather than being the treatment.'

How quick are the results and how long does it last?

Dr Nina Bal explained that the optimal treatment plan consists of two to three sessions, spaced initially two to three weeks apart, to achieve the most favourable outcomes.

She added: 'Typically after the 2nd and 3rd treatments, when I see patients in the clinic, their under-eye area is already brighter, and skin is more hydrated on palpation as well.'

Is there any downtime or aftercare?

'With all injectable treatments, there is an initial period of 48 hours where I recommend the patients do not touch the area treated.

'Further there is always the risk of bruising with all forms of injections. Aftercare is the same as Profhilo and a HA dermal filler treatment.'
