The Mississippi Lottery Corporation (MLC) has launched four new scratch-off games that will be available to purchase at all retailer locations from today, February 4, 2020. The four games cost between $1 and $5 per play and have grand prizes ranging from $4,000 to $100,000.

Mississippi first started selling scratch-off tickets on November 25, 2019, and initially launched four different scratch-off games, and with the new additions, now sell a total of 16. Additionally, Mississippi residents can now play the Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries, which became legal in the state on January 30, 2020.

New MLC Scratch-Off Games

Double Doubler costs $1 to play and players can win up to $4,000. The odds are 1:4.93 and there are 24 grand prizes to be won.
Payday costs $2 to play and players can win up to $25,000. The odds are 1:4.59 and there are six grand prizes to be won.
Cash Money costs $5 to play and players can win up to $100,000. The odds are 1:3.96 and there are five grand prizes to be won.
Diamond Dazzler costs $5 to play and players can win up to $100,000. The odds are 1:3.98 and there are five grand prizes to be won.

Where to buy lottery tickets in Mississippi? Mississippi Lottery Retailers

There are more than 1,500 retailers selling lottery tickets and scratch-off games in Mississippi and you can find your nearest retailer using the MLC store locator.

Currently, Mississippi residents can only purchase tickets from a licensed retailer and lottery tickets are not available to purchase online. Additionally, players must be 21 or older to play.

Mississippi Lottery Winners

MLC posts many of its winners on the Mississippi Lottery website. On January 24, a woman from Lee County won $100,000 on a scratch-off ticket and on January 10, a man from Smithville won $100,000. Dozens of other players have won major prizes from $2,000 to $2,500. MLC also often tweets about its winners as well as about any remaining prizes.

The Mississippi Lottery

Previously, The Mega Millions and Powerball lotteries were available in 44 states, as well as Washington D.C. and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Mississippi was one of six states—along with Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah—that banned the lottery.

Mississippi originally objected to the lottery due to the state's religious beliefs, which is why Alabama and Utah ban the lottery. The state also banned the lottery to protect its riverboat gambling industry, which is also why Nevada doesn't allow the lottery.

But on August 31, 2018, Mississippi authorized the lottery and established the MLC, allowing its residents to play scratch-offs and take part in the national lottery.
