Kelsea Ballerini has been implicated in cheating on ex-husband Morgan Evans with The Chainsmokers' Drew Taggart prior to the collapse of her five-year marriage with Evans.

The country singer, 29, cheated with Taggart, 33, at Lollapalooza in Chicago in August 2019 and told Evans, 37, about the affair two years later, a source told Page Six on Wednesday.

Taggart - who had past worked with the Peter Pan performer on the 2018 song This Feeling - 'was single at the time of his rendezvous with Ballerini,' a source told the outlet.

The report came out after the Yeah Boy vocalist detailed the slow end of her marriage to Evans, which she said she tried to salvage through 'years of couples therapy' and multiple separations.

While reflecting on her past relationship Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast that was released Wednesday, the Knoxville, Tennessee native admitted that there were 'many a night of sleeping on the couch.'

When asked if she remembers the first time time they elected to sleep apart, the Peter Pan hitmaker recalled sleeping on the couch the night before the CMA Awards.

In the morning, after rehearsing for the event, she remembers texting him: 'I'll just see you at the carpet.'

The talented performer, who had initially tied knot with Evans in 2017, explained that she began sleeping on the couch due to a 'sense of disconnection' between them.

'We hadn't seen each other, there was a lack of effort to see each other. I was getting resentful because any time we did see each other, I felt like I was carrying that load, and I was tired,' the three-time Grammy nominee noted.

The singer further talked about her divorce from the Australian star and stated, 'As he's putting out a song about being blindsided, he's taking half the house that he didn't pay for.'

'How was I married to this person for this long and I had no idea that that bit of character was tucked within that human being?' she asked.

Morgan released a song titled, Over For You, in October 2022, one month before their divorce was finalized.

Lyrics in the track include 'How long have you been waiting/To take our pictures down?/How long have you been breaking?/Why am I just finding out?' and 'What do you tell your parents?/What do you tell yourself?/Was it something I was missing/Or is there someone else?'

The songstress released her own EP on Valentine's Day called Rolling Up With The Welcome Mat, with one track titled, Blindsided.

Some lyrics in the tune also referenced to their split: 'Like that one time in 2019, before that big show, we had a big fight/I slept on the couch and then the next night you put on your suit/I put on a smile and sang about how it's okay to cry, dying inside.'

Kelsea also admitted to host, Alex Cooper, that, 'I didn't want to have a wedding. … I swore I would never get married.'

On Tuesday, her ex-husband jumped onto his main Instagram page in response to Kelsea's interview and claimed that she was not disclosing the full truth.

'It's really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved will all my heart, saying things that aren't reality and that leave out what really happened,' he penned.

The Kiss Somebody singer-songwriter added, 'She knows I'm not the type of guy to speak on those things publicly. If this is what she needs to heal, I hope it helps.'

'All I ask if that if you're on my pages, please don't be mean. Don't be mean to Kelsea, don't be mean to each other. Life's too short,' Morgan concluded.

The two began dating in 2016, and tied the knot one year later in 2017 during a romantic ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. However, in August 2022, the singers announced that they were divorcing after nearly five years of marriage.

In a statement on her Instagram, Ballerini revealed, 'I've always tried my best to share my life with you in a real and vulnerable way, while also protecting layers of my personal life as they unfold. This is now a public record so I wanted you to hear from me directly that I am going through a divorce.'

She added the the decision was 'difficult' and that their 'journey' had come 'to an end.'

The singer emotionally expressed that she was 'grateful for the years of marriage to Morgan and hopeful for the next seasons.'

Her ex also penned his own short statement, and wrote, 'I am very sad to confirm that after almost 5 years of marriage, Kelsea and I are parting ways. I wish it were otherwise but sadly it is not.'

At the time, a source informed Us Weekly that, 'They've been working on their marriage for many years and have even tried therapy.'

According to documents obtained by the outlet, Kelsea had cited 'irreconcilable differences' when filing for divorce in Tennessee in August 2022.

The pop star also discussed her dating life as she stated she was 'having fun' and was not single after being linked to Outer Banks actor, Chase Stokes.

'Am I ready to date again? … I've never really dated. I don't know how it works,' she admitted.

Speaking of Stokes, the beauty admitted to sliding into his Instagram DMs, despite never watching his show.

'I just swan dove right on in,' Ballerini mused. 'His handle is '@hichasestokes,' and I said, 'Hi, Chase Stokes.'

As for if she worries how Evans feels about her moving on, Ballerini said, 'No, because I'm not married to him anymore and I don't need to care about his feelings anymore.'

Still, she clarified that she means that with 'all the respect in the world' but knows that 'his journey is' not hers 'anymore.'

'I hope he is protected from whatever he needs to be protected from seeing - I hope he has people in his life that help him do that - [but] that is not my job,' she concluded on the subject.

The performer went on to say, 'I think that just happened over the last couple of years, and I feel like what that means to me is I have opinions.

'I have a career that is a priority for me, to show up for myself and the people that I've aligned with along this journey. And I have aspirations and goals that are tied to no one, and those are all really important things.'
